Phil and the girls came to Spartanburg this past weekend. I was very thankful because with the constant battering ram of tests lately my apartment was starting to look like a mess. I am not sure why I thought a 2 and 4 year old would make it look any better, but at least I got some laundry done. I am not a big fan of the TV being a baby sitter, but every once in a while it is necessary. I usually prefer the girls watch educational shows like Signing Time or Little Pim, but now that Abigail knows how to work Netflix strawberry shortcake wins more times then not. Thankful one movie Abigail and Roslyn love to watch is Mary Poppins. I am not sure what I like better watching Mary Poppins or watching the girls watch Mary Poppins. They dance, sing, giggle, and run around as Jane and Michael go on their adventures with Mary.
Do you remember what it was like to be a child? Dance in public places when no one else is dancing just because you hear music or make a game out of anything you could find. I was trying to make up a game for the girls because it was too cold outside to play on Saturday. We were using grapes and trying to play hot potato, but the girls kept eating the grapes. They would just laugh each time I would tell them “we can’t play if you eat all the grapes”. Then we would start again and they would eat the next grape too. Next time we will have to play with something that is not edible.
Sunday we went to Biltmore to feed the ducks. Phil and I have a season passes because the cost of a season pass is about equal to what it would be to visit twice in one year. We figured that with the drive back and forth from Sevierville, Asheville would be a good stopping point for the girls. On the way to Asheville we stopped to get a traditional cake doughnut from DD. The girls took about 2 bits each and said, “mommy we are going to feed the rest to the ducks, is that ok?” Oh course! You have to love the fact that my girls did not want to eat their entire doughnut because they wanted to save it for the ducks! I know most parents think their kids are cute, but mine really are!
