Charleston doctor of chiropractic Dawn Maynard was recently named ROAR Career Advisor of the Year by Sherman College of Chiropractic in appreciation of her contributions, time and commitment to growing the chiropractic profession.
The ROAR (Reach Out And Recruit) Career Advisor of the Year Award is given to an exceptional ROAR member who has gone above and beyond to recruit students to Sherman College. ROAR asks its doctors to reach beyond their comfort zones and help the college recruit future leaders for the profession.
“We are thankful for the chiropractors who do so much to advance the profession, and we are even more thankful that ROAR doctor Dawn Maynard is on our team,” said college President Dr. Edwin Cordero of her support.
Dr. Maynard graduated from Life University in 2007 and has been serving patients at her current office, Prime Chiropractic in Charleston, SC, since 2011. She is constantly on the lookout for ways to encourage students to become future chiropractors. She speaks to students at the College of Charleston each semester and represents Sherman College at various events at both The Citadel and Charleston Southern University.
Dr. Maynard also offers students the opportunity to shadow or intern in her office and mentors them through the application process, including a student who enrolled last summer at Sherman College. She is also a member of the Board of Regents at the college, a group dedicated to supporting quality chiropractic education at Sherman through financial donations and leadership.
Sherman College named its 2014 award recipients May 1-3 as part of Lyceum, an annual continuing education and homecoming event attended by hundreds of chiropractors throughout the U.S. and internationally. Lyceum is held on the college’s campus in Spartanburg, SC, and involves three days of seminars, special events and other programs.
