Dr. Bakian Retires, Will Turn to Volunteer Activities

Sherman alumnus Corey Bakian, D.C., '80, retired from practice recently. Here is a really nice article in The Saline Reporter about him and his plans to volunteer at the children's hospital to sit with and bring comfort to youngsters in the oncology ward. Sherman alum to donate service proceeds

Sherman alumna Lidia Adkins, D.C., ’05, plans to  work on June 11 for free, giving the money she receives that day for her services to a 3-year-old girl with cancer. Read the rest of the story here.

Best-selling author, international speaker Sarah Farrant Visits Sherman

Dr. Sarah Farrant, a best-selling author, international speaker and chiropractor from New Zealand, was on campus this week to talk with students. See the article that appeared in today's Spartanburg Herald Journal entitled, Speaker gives chiropractic students new view of patients.

This must be the time of year for the best of the best to be announced across America. I’ve heard from alumni on both coasts with the good news that they have been named the best chiropractor in their communities.

• Mark Van Hemert, D.C., ’77, and Brad Hensley, D.C., ’83, tied for the title Best Chiropractor in Aberdeen, WA.
• Andrea Marconi-Nastelli, D.C., ’04, was voted Chiropractor of the Year for the second year in a row in Reston, VA.
• Marlene

Mahipat, D.C., of Randallstown, MD, just recently received the news that she was named one of Maryland’s Top 100 Women by the Daily Record in Baltimore.

Sherman alumnus Steve Aungst to be Honored

Alumnus Steve Aungst, D.C., ,'96, of Powell, TN, will be inducted into the Armstrong Hall of Fame's Class of 2009 on April 26, 2009. It's a good article when you overlook the writer referring to Steve's profession as chiropractry. Oh well, what can you do? We need to keep educating folks, don't we?

Chiropractic Profession National Board Exams This Weekend

It's been a bit quiet on campus this week. About half of our students are knuckling down... putting full focus on studying for the National Boards coming up this weekend. They and all the rest are also preparing for final exams next week. Wow! a one-two punch! But they can handlle it!
