Today I've been working on finding the perfect restaurant in the Seattle area for an alumni social gathering on Saturday, October 7. I've been looking at websites, reading reviews, reviewing menus (and drooling at the seafood offerings!) and imagining a great party with alumni and their spouses/guests.
I visited Seattle and surrounding area alumni about 5 years ago in late September and experienced 5 days of sunny, 70 degree weather in a row. (yep, you read that right, 5 sunny days in a row…how lucky can you get?) I drove as far north as Camano Island to see Ray Pope and to Arlington where I had lunch with the Guitierrez family. I also drove south over to Gig Harbor to see Greg Fox and Renton to visit Randy Baze. I had a lovely visit with Scott and Lynn Yerrick and I surprised Jenna Wilson at the mall where she was conducting a spinal screening. I ferried over to Whidbey Island for the wedding of Maria Best and met her lovely family and friends and enjoyed homemade seafood delights from her kitchen and a spectacular view from her deck.
I hope I didn't leave out anyone that I visited in Washington State. My apologies if I did and let me hear from you so I can make an addendum.
Sleepless in Seattle is one of my favorite movies and I have at least five years of Frazier episodes on VHS tape. When I need a good laugh I just pop one of those in and visit Frazier and Niles for a great cup of coffee in Seattle.
Oh, I just remembered the drive-through coffee shops all over Seattle. Guess what world? Spartanburg is getting its very own stand-alone Starbucks with a drive-through on the corner of Pine Street and Garner Road, just down the hill from Gibbs Stadium at Wofford College...which is on my way to work. I imagine it will be open in another month or so. Perhaps I'll stop in for a latte on my way to the airport in October.
