There's another new face on campus. It's Vice President for Institutional Advancement Alan Duesterhaus. Alan is our new department head and we look forward to working with him on alumni and development projects.
Alan resides in Spartanburg with his wife and five children. He is a chiropractic patient of alumnus Nick Wise, D.C., '00. Prior to moving to Spartanburg, Alan lived in Nashville, TN, for seven years and has lived in the northeast and the mid-west as well as the south. Due to previous employment with Pi Kappa Phi, a fraternal organization, where he traveled the country to visit new and established chapters, he is familiar with many cities and states across the US.
Alan served as the Vice President for Advancement at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, TN, before moving to Spartanburg when his wife accepted a position with Converse College. He holds a B.A. in History from George Mason University, a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Sherman and is a heck of nice guy!
Alan says his appreciation for chiropractic and understanding of its philosophy has grown over the years as he has learned more about the profession. He would like to see the college continue to offer opportunities for alumni to reconnect with each other socially and professionally, and looks forward to meeting alumni and other DCs soon. I believe you'll enjoy meeting him, and he certainly looks forward to meeting you.
The question now is… Will Alan sing at the next Bagelfest?
