Alumni Talent Shared during Lyceum Open Mic Night

I've just uploaded photos in my album of the performers from the first Alumni Open Mic in the Alumni Tent (held Friday night after the fireworks at Lyceum homecoming). We had instrumentalists, singers and more!

My special thanks to Dr. Scott Crafton, '04, who volunteered to run the sound board for us that night and did a wonderful job.

Tiki torches lit a path from the Big Top to the Alumni Tent where candlelit tables provided the perfect setting for winding down the night. Snacks, beverages and ice cream treats were enjoyed along with the talent of alumni from 1976 through the present.  It looks like this may become a regular feature of Lyceum so start thinking about what talent you can share next year. Maybe one of you will pull out an old Spizz act from your student days.

New Faces on Campus

Last week a new class of future alumni arrived on campus. They number 38 and include a great variety of people. Like so many other classes this group will become very close over the next few years as they study, learn, practice and develop their chiropractic skills together.

College staff who may not otherwise get to spend time with the new students in their first week had an opportunity to meet the group at an end-of-the-day cookout during orientation where we mixed and mingled.  This is a great group and I look forward to getting to know them. Two from the class have fathers who are chiropractors, one's grandparents are and one student's brother graduated from Sherman within the past two years. If you referred one of these students to Sherman College, please know that we appreciate your continued confidence and pride in your alma mater.  Sherman IS where chiropractic lives.

Practice Building Blog

Dr. Brian Pulver (Michigan), coordinator for the Alumni Association Mentor Program and I have been talking about starting a practice building tips blog for alumni, young and old, to read and contribute to. The idea is to have a blog where Sherman College students and alumni can ask questions and share ideas to build better chiropractic practices.

Dr. Pulver says he can link seasoned, successful D.C.s with senior students or recent graduates who have questions. Here are some of the topics we might explore.

ü      choosing a location

ü      cash or insurance practice

ü      associating

ü      buying an existing practice

ü      big town vs. small town

ü      living near my office
