I was in hallway outside the computer lab this morning filling my water glass when I heard what a student referred to as "the sweetest thing." It's such a touching story that I wanted to share it with you.
The student told me she had just left Clinic Lab class where John Kosinski and his girlfriend, April Traylor, were partners for making a case presentation for the class on Powerpoint. It's not uncommon for couples to work their way through the chiropractic program together, sharing the ups and downs, being supportive and oftentimes partnering for assignments.
As John was finishing the presentation the two of them had worked so closely together to create, he surprised April when he said he had another case he needed help with. A new slide came up on the big screen at the front of the class in the computer lab and John set the scene for an incredible event that students and faculty will remember for years to come.
April was totally stunned as John took her hand and walked to the center aisle where he got down on one knee. Faculty member Janice Fordree later told me the class erupted in applause. Then John asked April to marry him.
I get teary-eyed just thinking about the intense emotion, passion and courage that swept through the computer lab this morning. Wow! What a memory for those classmates! What a story John and April will have to tell to their grandkids!
Memories are made at Sherman College. It's no wonder that Dr. Fordree's class was dismissed a bit early to allow the class to congratulate and celebrate with April and John, and how fortunate I was to be in that part of the building when their classmates were so deeply moved they wandered the halls sharing this remarkable story.
We have many alumni couples, some who married before they came to Sherman and many who met the love of their life here. Tell us your romantic story!
