Pranksters

It seems lately we've had no shortage of pranks on the Sherman campus. Today Philosophy Department Chair Dr. Bill Decken walked in to find his office like this:

Just in case you were curious, that mess of papers came from 150 phone books with 966 pages in each one. Yep, that's about 145,000 sheets of paper. Thankfully Dr. Decken is a good sport.

Hey -- come back and help me clean this up!

Ah... there's my desk!

I hear there's some payback on the way for an accomplice in this project. More later!

Sherman bean sprouts?

Recently the Admission Office received an interesting promotional item sample. From time to time vendors will send things for us to consider ordering as giveaways at college fairs and other events. This sample was quite different. It was... well, a seed of some sort that can be imprinted with your logo; this one had been stamped with the promotional company's logo -- 4imprint. Office Coordinator Alison Kimball, (a.k.a. the office caretaker) took it home and planted it to see what would happen.

So, what do you think? What would you do with a Sherman sprout? I'm not sure if we'll be ordering any of these.

Getting pinned

Each quarter at Bagelfest, interns entering the Health Center celebrate with an official nametag "pinning" ceremony.

Spring Fling

Spartanburg's Spring Fling, one of the Upstate's largest street festivals, celebrates its 30th birthday this year. The free 3-day event attracts more than 75,000 people who come out to enjoy the food, entertainment, crafts show, professional bicycle race, antique car show and special attractions. This year’s dates are May 2, 3, & 4. You can check out Lisa's blog post from 2006 to see some of her photos from the event.
