’s own experts will cover particular details of bony, motion and muscle palpation that are often neglected by practicing chiropractors. Special emphasis will be given to correlating spinal structure, biodynamic and visualization techniques with the palpatory exam. A concise pre and post evaluation will be administered for demonstration purposes.

On Friday, May 28, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 pm, Dr. Hunt will present the following:

 

Orthospinology, A Specific Upper Cervical Approach for Pediatric Care

 

This program will review the bio-mechanics of the upper cervical junction in a newborn and the pediatric upper cervical spinal development and review of upper cervical adjusting procedures, including x-ray setup, table placement and case study reviews of pediatric patients.   Additionally, modified upper cervical adjusting procedure will be outlined when x-rays cannot be reasonably obtained.

Where are the students?

WOW! I just participated in an absolutely AWESOME Lyceum Planning meeting.  One of the questions we are asked each Lyceum...is where are the students?  I would like to use this forum to answer that question and tell you what we are going to do about it, and for that, we need your help!

In actuality, the percentage of Sherman students that have been participating and coming to Lyceum has been steadily increasing over the past few years.  So, we are headed in the right direction but as my husband tells me "Patience is not my strongest virtue" and this committee feels the call to do more NOW! 

One of the benefits to Lyceum that we tell our students is the contacts, the networking and the opportunity to learn from those that have gone before but rather than telling them 100 times, we want to show them.  Our committee would like to arrange a meet-n-greet with students and DC's during Lyceum.  The format and time is in early planning but we wanted to ask YOU, the DC, will you give of your time to meet chiropractic's future leaders?  More details will come as the idea becomes a plan but I just had to share in the excitement!!!!  Talk to you soon.

What is Lyceum? I mean, really..what is it?

Good Afternoon!  I hope all your holidays and homecomings were happy and provided a good kickstart for 2009!!

For me, a great 2009 actually began Oct. 08 when I joined the staff of Sherman College as the new Director of Continuing Education.  I was a proponent and patient of chiropractic before this new opportunity but have enjoyed learning the philosophy (indeed, I even took a class under Dr. Decken) and the continuous courage of its supporters in the face of mainstream opinion. 

As you know, the largest undertaking of CE is the coordination of Sherman's Lyceum each May.  For me, the first order of business was to find out what LYCEUM actually meant !!! I'm not speaking metaphysically but an actual definition (took French in school, not Latin).  One of the definitions from Webster is "an association providing public lectures, concerts, and entertainments".  As Lyceum is also considered HOMECOMING for many, I thought BINGO! and how appropriate given this year's theme SHARE YOUR PRIDE!!! So...we are going to do our best to provide all of the above, and I would love to hear from you regarding YOUR PRIDE in Chiropractic and Sherman College. FIRST TIMER

Good Afternoon!  Welcome to the Sherman College LYCEUM blog.  It is our goal to provide you with updates and information on Lyceum 2009 - Share Your Pride, scheduled for May 21-24, 2009.

I have to confess....this is my first time as a blogger.  Give me a microphone or an audience and I don't have a problem conveying my meaning with words or expressions, sometimes even with hand gestures :-) So it will be an exciting challenge learning to do the same with words.  I hope you keep coming back to the blog over the next few months.  I look forward to seeing you...uh...hearing from you....uh.....well you know what I mean.
