Colleges jump into Web social networks

Community Service Initiative with College Town this Saturday....

This Saturday, February 28 from 9 am-noon students from all of the Spartanburg area colleges will be participating in the College Town annual day of community service known as CSI.

Students will have the opportunity to sign-up to volunteer with students from the other colleges for a couple of hours of community service at a host of sites throughout the city ranging from the homeless shelters to children group homes to nursing homes, Habitat building projects and more!

Of all the college presidents in Spartanburg, President Schwartzbauer has been selected to provide opening remarks to the all of the schools for this event.

Please come out and support our President as he addresses all the schools in Spartanburg and volunteer 3 hours of your time on Saturday to touch the lives of others in this community.

Your attendance and participation will demonstrate to the college and local community that Sherman College is invested in building relations with our community.

Free t-shirts given. Breakfast & lunch will be served. Registration is at 9 am @ the Hangar @ First Baptist Church downtown.

Shadow an Intern Day a HUGE success

We were so pleased with the turnout for the Shadow an Intern Day on February 19.  Here is a synopsis of the event:

• 17 prospective students and 4 applicants from New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Georgia, North and South Carolina
• 11 Interns volunteered to have students follow them for the afternoon
• After lunch with the interns the students were able to observe patient visits, tour campus and see daily responsibilities of our Interns
• We received great feedback on the evaluations including people who wished they could have stayed longer

Meet our president

Our local newspaper, the Spartanburg Herald Journal, does a weekly column entitled Meet Your Neighbor.  This week they chose to interview Dr. Jon Schwartzbauer, Sherman College president. It is a great piece that will give you a little more insight into who Dr. Schwartzbauer really is.
