Snow? In South Carolina?

It happens every so often...when the weather is *just* right....we get SNOW!  Yes, yesterday we actually had a little bit of snowfall, just enough to cancel classes (and pretty much everything else in the area), but not enough to prove to be miserable.  And today, as I sit in my office and look out the great big windows facing the lawn, the snow has all melted away!

It was fun while it lasted....

And, if you believe this, they are actually calling for more tonight and tomorrow....another 2-3 inches maybe!!

Montel Williams says Chiropractic is Amazing

“It’s the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me!” exclaims Montel Williams after less than two weeks of chiropractic care. Montel has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He explains how after suffering from pain, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, he experienced almost instantaneous relief from pain with his first chiropractic adjustment.  Read more here.

Sherman College offers the Atlas Orthogonal elective as a part of our curriculum, and also holds the Atlas Orthogonal Certification classes as a part of our Contiunuing Education program.

ATLAS ORTHOGONAL CERTIFICATION
With Roy Sweat, D.C., and Matt Sweat, D.C.
Module I — March 1-2, 2008
Sweat Clinic in Atlanta, GA

Atlas Orthogonality refers to the proper alignment of the atlas vertebra beneath the skull, ensuring the normal positioning of the vertebrae of the rest of the spinal column in relationship to each other. The result is a clear and unobstructed path for the spinal nerves, spinal cord and vertebral arteries, thereby permitting natural function, mobility and health. Roy W. Sweat, D.C., is a 1949 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic. He is highly regarded in the areas of research and technique and is the creator of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, a precise system of x-ray and spinal analysis which uses a specific method of adjusting the atlas subluxation. Matthew H. Sweat, D.C., graduated from Life College of Chiropractic in 1989. He is board certified in Atlas Orthogonality and is a member of the Board of Directors of the R.W. Sweat Research Foundation.

Wilson Named Staff Member of the Year at Sherman

Wilson_kathy_web

Director of Financial Aid Kathy Wilson has been well known for helping Sherman College students through the financial aid and loan processes with a smile and with true care and concern. Now she’ll also be known as Staff Member of the Year 2007.

The Staff Member of the Year award recognizes a Sherman staff employee who is competent and effective; sees and suggests opportunities for improving Sherman College; connects his or her work to the mission of the college; contributes to teamwork and morale building; and has been with the college for at least one year.

Comments on ballots of those voting for Wilson included the following: “This person has never approached a question without a smile,” “She is someone I truly feel will always look out for my best interests, “She knows each and every student and has a special bond with most of them.” Those voting also said that Wilson “is dedicated and will find the answer to any question you ask,” that she “is always there whether it’s giving advice, support or just an encouraging smile when things are getting tough” and that she is “one of the most caring staff members at Sherman and we really appreciate all that she does to make our time here easier and less stressful.”

Wilson joined the Sherman College staff as assistant director of financial aid in 2004 and was promoted to director in 2006. She holds an associate’s degree in business accounting from Spartanburg Technical College.

Happy 2008!

Happy New Year!  We are off to a great start here at Sherman this year...and January of each year begins the planning process (at least here in Admissions) for Lyceum.  This just came across my email, so I thought I would share it here as well:

Rachael Ray Show Features Sherman Lyceum Performer Justin Kredible

Get a sneak peek of Lyceum 2008 Monday, January 7, on the Rachael Ray show (check your local listings). Performer Justin Kredible, whom USA Today calls “the country’s hottest comedy-magician,” will be one of Rachael’s guests on the show.

Kredible will be performing Friday night during Lyceum; he has been named 2007 Entertainer of the Year. For more on Justin, visit his web site, his MySpace page, or watch him on YouTube.

Hope to see you at Sherman College May 22-25 for Lyceum 2008, Inspire the Fire! It’s all about you and the very best in chiropractic – including alumni reunions, plenary sessions, fellowship, networking, CE credit, fireworks, kids program, career day and much more....
