Here’s a guest post from student Jillian Kersh:
While most colleges are on the semester or trimester system, here at Sherman we are on the quarter system. This means that we basically go to school year round (yuck!). Everyone looks forward to summer break, because we have a three-week vacation! Well, I guess some of us do.
Once you start seeing patients in the clinic, you really don’t get a summer break. If you need to see your patient once a week, you can’t just leave them for three weeks! So, the majority of Health Center interns stay to see patients over summer vacation. A couple of the Health Center faculty, staff, and students decided we need to have a little bit of fun while we were here for our vacation…so we planned a potluck!
Now, part of the reason I choose Sherman was because it has a very family-like atmosphere. Today is a perfect example of that. Students, faculty and staff enjoyed a feast of all sorts of incredible food and fantastic fellowship. The intimate setting of Sherman is definitely what sets it apart from the rest!
