I usually do a small list of things I am thankful for, in homage to the Thanksgiving holiday. This time I am a little late. Oh well, better late than never. Keep in mind, these are just a few things:
5)White Muscadine or Heritage Red Wines from Habersham Winery in Helen, GA. I think these wines were made for me. They represent the south, and yet have a refined taste...or at least this country-bumpkin tends to think so.
4) A redemption (sorta) of the Clemson football program, since beating USC 31-14. As a season ticket holder, this year has been the most frustrating. Loaded with talent, the team just didn't live up to anyone's modest expectations. But with a nice victory (even on a gloomy, nasty day), this Clemson fan is happy.
3) My Home. Now, I am not saying that my home is anything to boast. What I am saying is: I have a home, and I can afford to keep it. With the economy headed south (big time), I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed us with a roof over our heads. Thank you, God, for letting us keep our home.
2) My Father. My dad has been in bad shape these past few months. He's had a long stay in ICU, been moved now to two different floors in the hospital, and is awaiting a room at a rehab center, to learn to walk again. My dad has been through quite a bit, but more so our family has been forced to work together to figure out what is best for him. For my family (who do not live right next door to each other and has had quite a history), this has been a challenge. But I never believe trials are created in vain. God has allowed this trial for many reasons, one being to bond our family together more. I am thankful for my father's progression thus far, and the chance to have one more day to build our relationship.
1) My Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Thank you for restoring me. Psalm 51: 9-12.
