Lyceum is On It's Way

Lyceum08header_3

Lyceum is coming to Sherman!! It's roughly 2 months away, and there will be a lot going on. I'm not going to write the same information you can read on the Sherman website. I just wanted to highlight some speakers that our quarter is excited to see:

Goble_cherie_bw Dr. Cheryl Goble (aka. Dr. Chery) is deemed by my classmates as one of the best Gonstead practitioners. I hear she is very humble, generous in her wisdom, and full of passion for her craft. She even hosts students in her home, and provides a weekend of bonding and teaching of the Gonstead technique. I'm excited to hear from someone who not only gets Chiropractic, but can also execute it with perfection.

Kessinger_rob

Dr. Kessinger is the founder of the Knee Chest Upper Cervical Specific program. And as previous posts have mentioned, this is the technique I get. I am so thrilled about this technique and the KCUCS program that I am attending the training modules in April & May, going to the Upper Cervical Evolution in TN, and participating in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic this summer. I feel God's hand in these decisions. It's nice to have a focus and a passion for that focus.

Dr. Kessinger is also a very humble doctor with a love for the Lord. It's great to have someone to look up to that holds your same values dear. He has always been genuine in conversation, and I'm sure his patients feel the same. I'm excited to learn from Dr. Kessinger. I think he truly understands how we are designed, and how we can serve each other better.

Drury_ray Dr. Drury is one of co-founders of Upper Cervical Health Centers. UCHC helps specific upper cervical doctors design and run their own practices. The great thing for patients is that they can travel and still get consistent care by visiting a local UCHC. It's a great concept, and I can't wait to hear more.

Anyway, if you want to learn more about the speakers, check out: 2008 Speakers. And to see the speaking schedule, check out: 2008 Schedule.

I hope to see you there!!!

You Might Be a Redneck If....

Ok, so this video is obnoxiously long...but worth the giggles. Here is our first annual Browning Easter Egg Hunt. Unexpectedly, the Easter Egg Hunt turned into a weird form of an Olympic Track competition. I say Travis (the one in the green shirt) won hands down...but Brad (white shirt) takes the prize for the best finale.

And you'll also notice my daughter, Addison, was very sneaky in her approach to the hunt. She got a few eggs, and worked to get all the stuff out of them ASAP. She does not get candy very often, so she took every opportunity to eat it without us noticing.

**Feel free to turn the volume off. My voice becomes incredibly annoying.**

He is Risen! (He is Risen Indeed!)

Happy Easter to all! I am thankful to the Lord for washing away my sins. And this day is the most exciting day for all sinners, because Jesus conquered the grave; and because he did so...I can be guaranteed of His promises.

Tomb

I think a Christian perspective only deepens my understanding of Chiropractic. God created a perfect body, but our sins break it down. As we aid the body to work as it was designed, God will grace us with the best possible health. I have no doubt God blesses us through Chiropractic. And I am honored to share his blessings with my hands.

May your family share beautiful moments and conversations today...the day of Resurrection!!!

We're Changing...

Sherman is getting a face lift, one area at a time. Here is the latest addition: The Gordon and Helen Brown Student Plaza.

So those photos are where this project is headed. The photos below are where we are currently:

And above is the 'walking path' for students, faculty, and staff. This path leads from the Scallon building to the Health Center. It's a little fairgroundish, but it works.

Hope to keep you up-to-date on the progress as our campus beautifies. For more minute-to-minute information on the transformation (b/c I know you all are on the edge of your seats), check out the blog: Pardon Our Progress.

Counting Down the Days

Evolution_2_5

It's approximately a month away, but I am getting SO excited to attend this year's Upper Cervical Evolution. Students and doctors from around the country attend this huge event.

Uchcreverse_2Put on by Upper Cervical Health Centers of America, the mission of Upper Cervical Evolution is "...to honor diversity among Upper Cervical doctors around the world in order to achieve the common goal of presenting a unified front of Upper Cervical Care to the general public...We are becoming stronger as a group, and soon, Upper Cervical Care will be at the forefront of the health care industry. The theme of Evolution 2008 is "A Tribute To BJ Palmer" He is the reason we all do what we do and deserves to be honored. He would be proud to see the future of Upper Cervical care."

SwartsbaurerThe line-up of presenters is awesome (check out: The agenda). And lest we forget our very own president, Dr. Jon Schwartzbauer will presenting Inspired by Cool on Friday night. His presentation is described as:
B.J. Palmer was one cool individual. What made him so cool to have the following that he had? Come and explore how B.J. established coolness so you can learn to be both mainstream and edgy in your place of practice.

Gregbuchanan

One presenter I am eager to see is Greg Buchanan, director of Microsoft and co-owner of New Realms Films. Following a life changing head injury in 1997 he discovered what he believes to be a root cause of most human illnesses and has developed a website www.upcspine.com which promotes the benefits of Upper Cervical Chiropractic, a profession which Greg describes as being ‘sent from heaven!’

The specific upper cervical approach has made such an impact that Storyville Studios (yes, the big movie studio) has created a movie about Upper Cervical Awareness. The movie will be unveiled at Evolution. This is huge for UC practitioners...and even for Chiropractic awareness, in general.

To wrap this up: there are many awesome presenters, and potential opportunities for my future practice waiting at the Evolution. I can't wait to see what doors God opens through this awesome seminar. It's nice to feel so passionate about a concept you KNOW will help people.

I'm Official!

Yay! I made it into clinic!!! This past week was draining, emotional, stressful, exciting, frustrating, confusing, and full of sweet relief. As you can read, this past week was nothing less than intense. But because of all those above mentioned adjectives, the result of last week was all the sweeter.

As I've said before, I am extremely proud of my quarter. We are really like a family, and I feel like the proud momma. Not only am I proud of their success, but they stepped up to help each other through this tough time. I'm really excited to see how God uses their hands to heal.

Well, we are now on to finals. I'm excited about 9th quarter; I get to adjust! Yay!
