The Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic has established itself as one of the premier chiropractic schools in the country. I feel privileged to be a Sherman student and I hope that many aspiring chiropractors decide to come here for years to come. In the tradition of Valentine's Day and David Letterman's top 10 list, here are the biggest things I love about Sherman College (in no particular order).
Sherman College's anatomy courses will make sure that you obtain an intimate knowledge of the human body. A lot of people speculate that the courses weed out some of the less serious students because they are so tough and come so early in the curriculum. However if you make it through them you will become a better student for it. Also, you sound like you are important when you tell your old friends about your crazy experiences in the cadaver lab.
2) Fun Day
I had a lot of fun at Fun Day. During the summer we got half of the day off so that the students could compete against each other in athletic events. Fun, fun.
3) My Blog
Everyone loves a good blog. Sherman College provides students with ample opportunity to voice their opinions, ideas, and perceptions on everything involving the world of a chiropractic student. Karen and Lisa continue to make blogging enjoyable through providing us poor college students with gifts and prizes.
4) The Basketball Court
At one time, our basketball court was made up of one extremely mangled and misshapen hoop that hung over a handicap parking spot in our driveway. Now, we have a brand new full length asphalt court with new hoops. Along with the sand volleyball court and soccer field, Sherman provides students with the ability to have fun and stay fit.
5) The Location
Easily the best thing about going to Sherman. I feel that cold weather is depressing and gas bills are expensive. South Carolina weather just makes you feel better about your day. Also Greenville and Charlotte are no more than an hour away, providing lots to see and do.
6) Health Clinic
I can really only assume that this is wonderful because I am not yet allowed to adjust, but I have been adjusted myself and have had nothing but positive experiences. I can't wait to start getting my own patients and improving their health while gaining experience.
7) The Front Parking Spot
This is one of those special things that is never talked about. I dare anyone to have the good fortune of getting the closest parking spot in the lot and not be in an excellant mood because of it. I usually get to class at the last minute, so this is especially sweet for me when the parking space gods bless me with the best spot in the lot.
8) The Students
Sherman College has an extremely diverse student body. Students come from all walks of life to learn the skills they need to become the best chiropractors possible. The school provides its students with many different avenues to learn the techiques that most interest them so everyone can become the kind of chiropractor that they want to be.
Our school is fortunate enough to get a lot of excellent speakers to come and share their knowledge with the student body. To actually hear stories of chiropractor's failures and achievements has proved to be an invaluable tool in our scholarly experience.
10) The Admissions Department
When I was trying to apply to the school, I had a ton of questions and I think I really drove everyone in the admissions office crazy with my many visits and phone calls. However, they always treated me really well and I appreciated their help in my making the choice to pursue my chiropractic career at Sherman College.
