What an exciting week to be Greg Walsh. I attended my first Sherman College Student Government meeting and I was able to post my first blog! This abundance of school pride has peaked my interest in another Sherman College organization known as the SPINE Team. This is the club that organizes a lot of the student activities for Sherman College. I have always wanted to be a member of this club, but I am not quite ready to give up my Tuesday break. I think I have some good ideas for these guys so I am listing some ideas that would be fun for them to do. Hopefully somebody on the club reads this blog, goes to the club and pawns them off as his/her own.
3 on 3 Basketball tournament.
A great way to break in the new basketball court. A quality basketball and a competent referee are needed.
3 on 3 Volleyball tournament.
This would be a huge success judging from the turnout at Fun Day.
Spartanburg scavenger hunt.
These are always fun and everybody has a good time.
Wife Carrying Contest
This could be performed from the bottom of the big hill near the health clinic. It is a co-ed event and is usually pretty funny. Click here if you have no idea what I'm talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wife_Carrying
Sherman Book Sale
This is simply the idea of having students sell the textbooks they no longer need to students in lower quarters. They could have it the first day of school and set up some tables outside to lay the books on. Students could also organize a website where you could advertise the books you want to sell and the price you are looking to sell them for.
Sloppy Joe Day
This was actually already performed almost singlehandedly by Jason Millman on the last day during winter quarter and was a huge success. We went through 20 pounds of meat from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. before running out.
Hi Greg-
Welcome to the Sherman blogging community!! These are great ideas- I am going to show them to Craig Dobek who is the CSG Treasurer and Darby Simmons who is the Secretary and in charge of the SPINE Team!!

Hey I'm Narci and I'm involved in the student government program at my college as well. I deas you posted sound like they would be a lot of fun and I've been looking for new activity ideas. I was wondering if you could get back to me with some ideas for activities. I would really like to know what the Spartanburg scavenger hunt and the sloppy joe day are and how I would put them on. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you have a good day.
