Tuesday, May 26, 2009--After an extended period of time, I am freed from the bondage of my first host, Judy Nutz Campanale, DC, ACP, where she has had me smashed in her luggage between her dirty laundry and her notes for the course she taught at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic (SCSC) Lyceum 2009 entitled, “Chiropractic: Write or Wrong.” She said something about unpacking and repacking, but all I know for sure is the only thing worse than her grammar exercises is her dirty socks (PHEWEE!) Cripe! If I hadn’t been flat already, I would surely be by now.
Thursday, May 28, 2009-- Now this is more like it! Judy is finally trying to win my attention by letting me ride in the jump seat. The view from the plane is much better in her briefcase than in her luggage! We even had our picture taken before we got on the plane this time! We’re on our way to a chiropractic college in Minneapolis (Northwestern Health Sciences University) where she will be giving a talk. She says she’s never been there either and we’re both eager to see the school and meet the students. What’s the chance they’re as cool as my friends at SCSC? We’ll see!
We’ll be staying with Judy’s brother Frank who is a certified Bikram yoga instructor. We’re going to take his class tonight when we get it in. Judy says the 26-posture, 90-minute class in a 105-degree room is really good for your body and mind. I wonder if she’s considered that although I am flat, I am still wearing a fur coat!
Friday, May 29, 2009-- My word that place was hot!!! I hope I never have to do that again! Frank said not to judge my first time and that the best thing to do is come back... but I don’t think so. I’m glad I took pictures with Frank and Judy before class. I don’t know if you can tell or not, but in the picture of me with just Judy after class I am running away as fast as I can. : )
Tonight we’re going over to the school. Judy doesn’t speak until tomorrow but we’re going to meet the students and to hear some of the other speakers. Tonight’s line-up includes Richard Baxter, DC (partner of James Chestnut, DC); Ben Lerner, DC (of Body by God fame); and Bart Anderson, DC (Launch “U” program by ChiroSystems).
Saturday, May 30, 2009-- Wow! The students here are really great! They are so friendly and enthusiastic and have done a phenomenal job organizing this annual seminar, “Create Your Destiny.” I guess anyone who gets this vitalistic philosophy of chiropractic is kind of all the same. Judy’s student host, Trent Scheidecker has really humored her and let her take pictures of me with him. Judy’s talk was very well received and one of her mentors, Reggie Gold actually complimented her on it! Who would have thought that Northwestern students would be interested in a practice dedicated exclusively to the correction of vertebral subluxation!?! But they are and they’re absolutely ravenous to learn more about it. The seminar was very well attended and the audience is fully engaged.
Judy made some new friends with other speakers on the program, including Rob Schiffman, DC; Dave Mager; and Hugo Gibson, DC. She also got to see some old friends: Dr. David Koch who has a new book out which she bought and had him sign (see photo) and Mark Romano who had to cut out early so we didn’t get to take our picture together. Both of their talks were really good, very inspiring and thought provoking for the students. Reggie of course was amazing! He spoke for about an hour and a half and then did another hour of Q & A! I was really glad to have my picture taken with him and some of the students.
Before we left, we were given a tour of the school, which is quite large. I carefully selected the place for my last photo while there. The insignia of NHSU that you see in the photo is actually emblazoned on a window that overlooks an indoor pool. I was going to take a dip but Judy insisted that it was time to go. : (
