Myrtle Beach with the kiddos

I liked the beach so much when I visited with Alison that I decided to tag along when Karen Rhodes, director of public relations, headed to Myrtle Beach with her family and friends for a long weekend. It was quite a crowd -- Karen, her husband Zach, their 3-year-old daughter Laney, their good friends Aubrey and Curtis, plus Laney's buddy, Claire -- and they definitely kept me entertained, especially Laney and Claire!

After the girls went in the water (I didn't want to get too wet!) and had a snack, they finally took me out to play.

After all that fun at the beach, I was pretty worn out, so I spent the rest of the long weekend relaxing. I'm glad they brought me along. The ride to Myrtle Beach wasn't too bad, either -- it's just about 4-1/2 hours from Spartanburg, so it's an easy weekend trip! Wonder if they'll take me back next year?

Huntington Beach Trip - Alison Kimball

Lucky me ~ I got to spend a week this summer at the beach with my friend Alison Kimball, Sherman College Admissions Office Coordinator.  It was a little hot, and my mane got frizzy & wild looking, but that’s a good thing. 

We stayed in her camper at the state park campground near Murrell’s Inlet, SC.  As you can see, I also had a very nice bed with a chiro pillow to help keep me aligned while I rested. 

When we were at the beach one day, it was really windy and I was blown away ~ really!  A big log stopped me, but as you can see, I landed rather awkwardly, and I sure needed to find one of our Sherman grads down there to adjust me back to my normal flat-shaped self!

Huntington Beach was beautiful, and I am proud to say that I am one of its friends!  I hope to return next summer.  Maybe next time we can go visit the alligators on the causeway. They'd better watch out!

Ralf Took Me All Over Europe

This may have been my biggest adventure so far. Dr. Ralf Ridderhall and his lovely wife, Carin, took me back home to the Netherlands with them and then on several trips spanning many weeks. Wow! What a life!

Here I am with Emma (one practice member in Dr. Ralf's practice) taken outside the practice here in Venray, The Netherlands.

Here I am going in an old fashioned wood burning sauna in Jämtön which is in on the coast of the very northeastern Sweden. I was with Ralf at the end of June to visit his cousins, aunt (which is also his godmother), and uncles. One of his cousins has a log house up there.

“Google” Jämtön and you will get a map so you can see where it is located.

 

Now here I am catching my breath outside on the little porch after the hot sauna, and enjoying the beautiful view.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Ralf took me to Barcelona when he travelled there for the ICPA seminar. Notice the big “Gold Fish” in the background. That was the Casino in Barcelona.

Isn't this pretty? It shows Carin and I on a 947 meter peak with a beautiful view of Lagoa do Fogo (Fire Lake) on the same island. Lagoa do Fogo is a crater lake on the center of the island Sao Miguel, Azores.

Here I am with Dr. Ralf again. This photo was taken just outside the village of Furnas (Sao Miguel island) where the hot springs are located. Carin didn't like the sulphur smell.

Dr. Ridderhall says: "We have had a great time with Larry and if he would have stayed with us another month he would have been able to go to Mallorca (Spain) too, but he is very homesick and he misses the big steaks…."

I'm on my way back home to Sherman College.

I Visited Dr. Chris Hawkins in Michigan

Hi everyone! I recently visited the chiropractic office of Dr. Chris Hawkins in Rockford, Michigan. What a nice office he has!

Look at the great children's checking and adjusting room! Here is Dr. Chris checking me.

 

 

Dr. Chris was kind enough to give me a toggle adjustment after he determined that I had an upper cervical subluxation. He explained to me that he learned this at Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I also got to meet and sit with Doc's wife, Jodie, in the reception area.

I found Marggi in Lake Lure, NC

After sitting in her office and playing on the computer (see my earlier account of this by clicking here) I found out that Marggi was on vacation at Lake Lure, NC. It's so pretty up there in the mountains that I decided to go visit her there.

Here I am sitting on the railing of the deck at the lake house where Marggi and her friends had most of their meals so they could take in the great view of the lake and mountains. I really like it here. I wonder if any Sherman alumni would like to open a practice here...

I'll stay a few days and then I'm going to head further north, way north, to Michigan. Stop back and see who I visit next!

Stop by the Alumni Office

Has anyone seen Marggi? I stopped by to chat with her about some of my travels, but she was not in. Oh well, I'll just sit here at Marggi's desk in the alumni office. Cool painting behind me. Somebody said Marggi painted it. Looks like those girls are having fun in the field picking flowers.

 

 

 

 

 

Geez, I've been waiting a long time. I'm getting restless. I think I'll play on the computer. First I'll check my email and then I'll go see what all my Facebook friends are doing.

Ut oh! Phone's ringing and I can't answer it! I better scoot on out of here. If you see Marggi, tell her I stopped by!

Flat Larry visits Buffalo with Kevn P. Phalan, D.C.

I spent  few days with Kevin Phalan, D.C.,  visiting Buffalo, NY. What a great time we had, and yummmm, WINGS! Kevin is a great host and got me in fabulous shape for visiting and having fun!

Flat Larry stops by Buffalo Harbor to visit the historic 1833 Light House. Yep, this is the place where the famous Erie Canal ends. "You'll always know your neighbor, you'll always know your pal, if you've ever, ever traveled on the Erie Canal."

Flat Larry heads to the Anchor Bar for an ice cold Labatt (the beer of Buffalo) and some hot Chicken Wings (Yep, this is the place where it all began).

Flat Larry stops by HSBC Arena, the home of the Buffalo Sabres.

Flat Larry hangs with the girls, DC's 2 Be, Lisa and Jean, at Balanced Living Chiropractic Wellness.

Flat Larry gets a much needed toggle-recoil adjustment before heading off to visit Dr. Mike Pisani in Kentucky.

Dropping by the Old Home Place

Not only do I travel around the country, sometimes I stop by the old home place to keep an eye on how things are going. Since I was flattened, the place looks bigger somehow.

Here I am explaining how important our strategic plan is to Charlotte Babb, our web designer, to keep her on track.

Increasing enrollment is part of her job description. She is very happy that this summer's quarter class is twice the size of last summer's class that started on her first day on the job in 2008.

She promotes the image of our grads—you readers—as the success stories that you are, showing how proud I am that you are in my pride!

Now she is working on getting reports together to show how the new website is doing, and what still needs to be tweaked. That's not nearly as much fun as making web pages and playing with photos, and I got really bored watching.

She is always putting things on Facebook, and we'd love for you to be a fan of our alumni page. You can be my friend on facebook too!  I always want to know what the rest of the pride is up to, so post on my wall anytime. 

So I am here encouraging her to keep on working those social networks and getting the word out that we are here, we're fun, and we're serious about straight chiropractic!

My Visit with Brandon Williamson in Mississippi

The best thing about visiting chiropractors is getting your spine checked for subluxations and getting adjusted when needed. Thanks, Dr. Williamson for a great visit!
