I am writing this blog in response to reader's comments of the last blog I posted. I think that if you have not read these reader posted comments, that you should go ahead and read them before continuing with this posting.
It is sad, that many people, including other chiropractors, and medical doctors do not truly understand the art of chiropractic. Doctors of chiropractic believe in what is called a vertebral subluxation. This is different than the average medical definition of a subluxation, so pay attention! A subluxation is when a vertebrae (or a bone of the spine) has misaligned, this misalignment causes occlusion of the nerve, which in turn causes interference of the the nerve to send messages to the various tissues in your body known as interference. As I know I have intelligent readers, I am sure you understand the value of the nervous system and how it helps the brain allow your body to function properly. As chiropractors, we relieve this pressure by introducing a force into the body. Your body processes this force and corrects the vertebral subluxation. Don't you agree that in removing a subluxation your nerves are better able to send messages to your body? Wouldn't you want a nervous system free of interference so that you are able to function at your optimum potential?
Perhaps some readers have this misconception that chiropractors cure migraines, pain, and depression. Well, if you are seeing a chiropractor who makes these claims than perhaps you want to reconsider visiting this DC and seeking out a chiropractor who believes in what is known as straight chiropractic! While straight chiropractos are only focused on relieving subluxations so your body can function at its best, sometimes a nice result is fewer symptoms.
Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic graduates some of the best adjusters in the world with thriving million dollar practices. Perhaphs this is due to our philosophy? I feel the need to also mention, that as doctors of chiropractic, we have the lowest malpractice insurance of any medical profession. This means that the odds of someone being hurt are slim to none! Perhaps you should read the statistics on that.
I am disappointed that in todays day and time, we have so many closed minded people who do not understand our profession but chose to comment on something in which they have no idea. I am sure some of these readers have never even been to a chiropractor! I have not, nor will I ever put down any medical profession, as there is a place for all of us. My suggestion to those of you who do not know what chiropractic is (including those chiropractors who make claims of healing) that you carefully research the philosophy of straight chiropractic!
