Heavy Bags

I thought I would blog about a recent article I read in the latest edition of the Oprah magazine. The topic was women and the bags they carry and how their choices in bags could result in spine problems. The chiropractor that researched this topic claims that a women's purse should weigh no more than 10 percent of her body weight. She offered several bags, in various price ranges, that were evenly proportioned and therefore easier on the spine and nervous system. I know that my bags are always so heavy however I continue to carry them not thinking of the damage I am doing to my body. Especially as a chiropractic student, I will have to be more aware of simple, everyday things like the handbag that I am carrying. I suggest you get your hands on this article so you too can contribute to the health of your spine.

Time to Relax

I am so thrilled finals are over! The last three weeks of class have been a killer with all of the tests, quizzes, and projects that were due. I am looking forward to having a few days off to clear my head and relax. The break between the summer and fall quarter is always one of the shorter breaks and never seems to be long enough. In fact, you are just starting to unwind by the time you have to start the next quarter. I can't believe that at the start of the next quarter, I will have been at Sherman two years. Time flies by so quickly when you are in a fast paced program like Sherman's. Now, I have one and one half years left. I expect my remaining time at Sherman will progress even faster as we will be working on patients. I hope everyone has a chance to relax over their break!

Finals on the Horizon

Finals begin this upcoming week however I feel that finals week will pale in comparison to this past week. We have five finals next week compared to the approximately eight tests/ projects from this past week. Honestly, we had so much to do, that I am just exhausted. I hope I have some energy left to study for finals, but I'm hoping exam week won't be as challenging as the week we just had. Good luck on exams!

Crunch Time

It is hard to believe that this quarter is coming to a close. We have one more week of classes before final exams! There will be no break for us this upcoming week as we are bombarded with last minute tests, quizzes, and projects. On Tuesday, my cervical x-rays are due, we have a written final in my full spine III class, there is a quiz in spinal exam, and we have a test in my x-ray class! I thnk we have a break from tests/ quizzes on Wednesay, and then on Thursday we have a soft tissue pathology test and a practical. Although the end is in sight, we still have much work to accomplish. I am looking forward to having off this monday as it will give me an opportunity to catch up on these tasks. Have a great weekend!

About Danielle

  • Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Unhappy with her job as a middle school math teacher, Danielle Zappile of Cherry Hill, NJ, knew something better was waiting in the wings. Her chiropractor had spoken to her on several occasions, saying she would make a great chiropractor, and so she looked into the profession. She was impressed with Sherman’s academic rigor, strong personal connections and diverse student body. To find out more about Danielle, click on the photo above.
