Entrance Exams

There are just a few more days left until eighth quarter takes entrance exams. On Wednesday, we will spend the morning hours at various testing stations. At these stations, we have to demonstrate our proficiency in physical exam, x-ray procedures, instrumentation, leg checks, upper cervical contacts, and full spine contacts. We are all very nervous as you have to receive a "C" or better to pass. In passing these exams, we will be able to start our physicals exams and perhaps even adjust our reciprocants! I will be spending most of the day studying for these exams as well as the two other exams we have this week.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

Hilton Head

This weekend we took a trip to Hilton Head. If you have not had the opportunity to visit this vacation retreat, I highly recommend that you add Hilton Head to your to "places to visit" list. It was nice to get away from Spartanburg and lay out on the beach and then enjoy one of the many restaurants that this resort area has to offer. If you would like to get in a little exerciese while in Hilton Head, I suggest you rent a bicycle and tour the area on one of bike trails.

What I truly loved about Hilton Head however, is the natural beauty. All the restaurants, stores, and businesses are hidden by lush trees and natural flora. I could honestly walk or ride around all day and never tire of the island's beauty. Visiting Hilton Head this past weekend was a welcomed get away from the daily grind. Now, it is back to focusing on school and getting through the rest of the quarter!

A Short Yet Exhausting Week

Today is Tuesday, and I only have one day left of school for the week! As is it yet again another boards quarter, those students in sixth quarter and above get Thursday and Friday off to study.

I have had so many assignments this week already, that I am yearning for the weekend. Yesterday, I had my NPO, new patient orientation, in patient education, as well as a philosophy exam in my clinic entrance exam class. Then today, at 8 am, I was evaluated in my spinal exam class. The class was not told of these evaluations, so it came as quite a morning surprise. Although I was quite pleased with my evaluation, our teachers sure know how to keep us on our toes. Later in the day I had an x-ray evaluation test and a practical in my full spine class. Tomorrow my schedule is just as full! We have a practical in our soft tissue class and a quiz on the student handbook for the health center. I don't really think that things get easier as you progress through the various quarters, I think that you just get used to all the work.

I can't believe that we are more than halfway through the quarter! Things seem to be progressing so rapidly that I am unable to keep track of time.

Week 5

This has been such a long and hectic week! As it is currently week five of the quarter, we are in the midst of midterms. Although one would think midterms would only last one week, we have several more tests next week. I looks like I will be doing a good deal of studying this weekend!

Tomorrow I have my clinical reasoning midterm. The only good thing about that is I do not have to be at school until noon and that gives me all morning to study. I know you are thinking it is great that my first class is at 12, but that is usually not the case. Most Fridays I have to be at school at 8am! Well, I am off to do some more studying! Good luck on your midterms!
