About Chris

  • Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Growing up in a dental family, Chris always thought he would end up being a doctor. But after spending time in his father’s dental practice, Chris realized he had “no real love for putting (his) hands in people’s mouths.” Following college, Chris started his own contracting business, but after his wife gave him an information package from Sherman, they decided to close the business, uproot the family and move to Spartanburg. Iconic Dining

It's Friday, and I just came back from having a meal at one of Spartanburg's oldest dining establishments - WADE'S. Wades_2   I think that I may have seen another blogger post about this restaurant in the past, but it definitely deserves another mention. Wade's has been in business in Spartanburg since 1947! They are famous for their vegetables and their yeast rolls (ask for some honey to really make them a special trEAT.) VeggiesNow, if you are a good ole boy(or girl) and need a plate full of Southern comfort-food, this is definitely the ticket. Turnip Greens, sweet potato souffle (heck no they don't call it that - it's "casserole" for all you non-Yankees out there,) mac & cheese, squash, and even more. The vegetable offerings change daily. Give WADE'S a try and I promise you won't be disappointed - unless of course you just have no culinary sensibilities at all....

Did you know???

On average, Wade's serves...

  • 15,500 guests per week
  • 220 gallons of tea per day (They served 79,200 gallons in 2004)
  • 3300 homemade yeast rolls per day
  • 8800 gallons of homemade cornbread dressing per year (281,300 servings)
  • 9040 pounds of turkey for Thanksgiving week alone!

They even have an Internet presence: www.eatatwades.com

Shagadelic, Baby

I spent this past Saturday morning trudging through the swamp with my nephew. He got stuck up to his stomach in "Quick-Mud" and I have to admit, I thought it was pretty entertaining watching him crawl out of the muck. Funny stuff, when you have someone there to laugh with/at you, but could be quite scary if you were all alone. None the less, we had a great workout wading through the mire known as Dean's Swamp.

Later Saturday night, I attended a wedding in Columbia. It was really a nice affair and the reception that followed at the Columbia Museum of Art was a blast - great food, great company, and great music - South Carolina style --- SHAG.

Take at look at the video from the reception and see if you can pick out the distinguished Senator from Kansas cutting a rug to some sweet Beach music.

Good to be back-

This quarter seems to hold promise for really delving into the nuances of Chiropractic as both an art and a science.

I've reached the Health Center Clinic at last. They issued me a locker, an intern number,

and a reciprocal -Reciprocal_2

re·cip·ro·cal (rĭ-sĭp'rə-kəl)

noun: a form of altruism in which one organism provides a benefit to another and should be reciprocated by the original beneficiary when the situation is reversed-
Simply - this means I get paired with another student who gets to practice spinal examinations, instrumentation, and eventually adjusting on me; and, in turn, I get to work with him as my patient as well.

Check out this clip that I found. It's the only footage that I've seen coming out of the middle east in a long time that didn't contain camouflage and killing.

"What are we going to do since Dad sold the camel?"

(kids, don't try this one at home...)

I received this comment earlier this evening:

Hi,
I just recently got accepted to Sherman and will be starting in July 2008.
I just wanted to know of any tips or advice you could give me?
Anything you would do differently or wish you had known?

Thanks so much!

Melissa
